Epic Sunset Bartlett Lake

Occasionally you come across someone and make friends in online gaming, but it’s rare to actually meet in person given the introverted, shy nature of us. I found out my friend James has a passion for photography too. When he came out for a pastor’s conference, I promised to take him out shooting.

I felt an obligation to find some good scenery having been in Phoenix for over 20 years. Not to mention the pride of calling myself a nature photographer was on the line. After a little mix up on our rendezvous we finally rallied up and headed down Horseshoe Dam Road. It starts off paved and quickly becomes a dirt road, which also had some areas lightly washed out. I mentioned that this point would be our fallback area for a sunset shot.

Well long story short we got as far as a passenger car could go and made it back in time to see this colorful display in the east towards Bartlett Lake and the Superstitions. Four Peaks is covered by clouds but if you look close enough you can still see Weaver’s Needle. I was glad not to disappoint and grateful for the serendipity that created this occasion.
